Every year, the International Judo Federation and the judo community celebrate World Judo Day on 28th October. This day represents a lot for all the judo fans around the world as it is the birthday of the founder of judo, Jigoro Kano Shihan. For each edition a theme is chosen to illustrate the values of judo. This theme is designed to be used as a strong tool to develop the visibility of the sport within and outside of the judo family. In 2024, the theme is: WELLBEING.

Wellbeing is not just the absence of disease or illness. It’s a complex combination of a person’s physical, mental, emotional and social health factors. Wellbeing is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. In short, wellbeing could be described as how you feel about yourself and your life.

Expanding on the theme of wellbeing for World Judo Day, continental unions, national federations, clubs and every single judoka on this planet can implement a variety of actions that address different aspects of health and wellness, from physical, mental and emotional perspectives.

On the road to World Judo Day 2024, we will develop how you can participate in the event, providing ideas about PHYSICAL WELLBEING, MENTAL WELLBEING, EMOTIONAL WELLBEING, HOLISTIC WELLBEING, SOCIAL WELLBEING and we will explain how you can engage with each of them.

Stay connected and in the meanwhile cultivate your own wellbeing.
