The International Judo Federation welcomed leaders from the Judo Federation of Vietnam and the Vietnam Sports Administration to its Presidential Office in Budapest for the first time on Tuesday, June 11 2019, as the sport’s world governing body signed two agreements with the Southeast Asian country.

IJF President Mr. Marius L. VIZER (above - centre), Vietnam Sports Administration Chairman Mr. Vuong Bich Thang (left) and Judo Federation of Vietnam President and Vietnam Olympic Committee member Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung (right) were on hand to sign the agreements on a monumental day for judo in Vietnam. 

The trio signed a MoU to promote and develop judo in Vietnam and to support their national team to achieve high results at the Asian Championships, Olympic Games and the IJF World Judo Tour which will also include the IJF dispatching judo experts to the country. 

Today also paved the way for Vietnam to develop their next generation of judoka as the parties signed a Judo in Schools agreement with the IJF’s world-renowned programme set to be introduced into 15 schools with a long-term aim of producing future national players and Olympic competitors for Vietnam. 

IJF President Mr. Marius L. Vizer presented a Herend porcelain Jigoro Kano figure to Vietnam Sports Administration Chairman Mr. Vuong Bich Thang.
